Jaroslav Pašmik, born in 1970 in Ostrava, from 2002 worked as a journalist the leading Czech weekly Respekt, focusing on culture issues and reports from countries in transition. His articles involved, for instance, Ukraine, China or Bosnia. He also cooperates with other more specialised media in the Czech Republic and abroad (e.g., Neue Züricher Zeitung).
