Aylin Basaran is a scientist, activist and film-maker. She teaches at the University of Vienna in the Institute for Contemporary History (speciality: visual contemporary and cultural history) and in the Institute for Theatre, Film and Media Science. She organised several conferences and conventions on, for example, the themes of women and gender history and political forms in documentary film and has published numerous articles on the interface of film and politics. For many years she has been active in various anti-fascist and anti-racist contexts and she takes an interest in queer-feminist questions.
