Artchil Khetagouri grew up in Tbilisi, Georgia. He studied at the Film and Television Academy in Amsterdam. His graduation fiction film “Heritage” premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam. Back in Tbilisi, Artchil directed the documentary “Akhmeteli 4”, awarded the “Prix Regards Neufs” at the Visions du Réel Film festival in Nyon. He also directed “Noosfera”, selected for the mid-length competition at IDFA in 2011, awarded at several international film festivals across Europe. Apart from being a documentary filmmaker, Artchil gave film directing workshops in Aarhus (Denmark), Amsterdam (Netherlands) and Tbilisi (Georgia).

Artchil leads the “NOOSFERA Foundation” since 2011, an organization which implements various documentary film related activities (training sessions in partnership with European film festivals, travelling film festival in the South Caucasus, documentary film screenings in Tbilisi, etc.) and is the organization behind the CinéDOC-Tbilisi international Documentary Film Festival. The documentary film workshops and the festival are funded by international and national donors (Creative Europe Programme of the EU, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, International Media Support, Prague Civil Society Center, Georgian National Film Centre, Tbilisi City Hall, etc.) Artchil Khetagouri has been festival director since 2013.
