Born October 3, 1943 in Prague, Angelika Hanauerova graduated at FAMU (film directing) in 1968. However, she really started to make documentaries after the end of the Soviet occupation of Czechoslovakia. In the meantime she has worked as a scriptwriter of fiction TV films for children. After 1989, she has made numerous documentaries, mainly for the Czech Television, among them: Jan Patočka (1990); State Against Faith (1991); Cardinal Josef Beran (1992); Rebellion of Shepherds (1993, three documentaries on the persecution of Catholics during communism, awarded by FITES - Czech Film & Television Union); Charter 77 (1997). 1999 - 2007, employed in Czech TV as a part-time script editor for religious programming, script editor, director - documentary films as well as mass services, etc. Directed the following documentary films: Zpráva o sídle svaté Máří Magdalény v Čechách (40 minutes) (1999); Pouť na konec světa (60 minutes) (2000)
Ze Šumavy do nebe (40 minutes) (2001); Irská cesta (33 minutes) (2001); Ecce homo kardinál (60 minutes) (2002); Duše Anglikána (33 minutes) (2004); Po potopě (22 minutes) (2005); 147 dnů kardinála Vlka (22 minutes) (2007); Po stopách svaté Kláry (22 minutes) (2007), as well as other short documentary programmes on religious subjects for Czech TV.
