Aleksandr Heifets was born in 1979 in Soviet Russia and 13 years later escaped to the U.S. In addition to degrees in psychology and linguistics from the University of Chicago, Aleksandr also studied directing at FAMU International. His documentary, TV, commercial and new media production experience ranges from MTV “True Life” series in New York to anti-corruption TV ads in Tajikistan for the World Bank. He is currently based in Estonia and focusing on provocative social documentaries, with a personal vision for shooting with expression and a strong emphasis on the story. In 2013 he started a small production company Taiga Film that in addition to documentaries produces innovative video content.
